Chasing the blah away

Well, I've just felt blah the last week. I haven't felt creative at all, I haven't felt like reading, I haven't worked on a single scrapbook page; I've just felt blah! Last night I decided it was time to make a card no matter what. And still I couldn't get any creativity flowing. So I just started looking at old cards I've favorited from other people's blogs. So be prepared to see one of your cards "remixed" and appearing on my blog in the next little while. Up first is a yellow butterfly creation.

My inspiration for this came from Michelle's post here. I loved the stitching she added at the top, and the border punch on the bottom. But you all know by now, I don't sew! And I couldn't add any brown to the bottom of mine without it suddenly turning dark and dreary. So I "made it my own!"

What do you all do when the creativity isn't happening? Any tips would be appreciated!

I love this! I hear you about the blah moments - that is when I take a break and usually just look at things that other people have made and then I usually get a few ideas into my head about what I was working on or what I wanted to me. Kind of like what you did, but that is what works for me! :)

I love yellow with kraft and the butterfly you used is gorgeous. I think I have that embossing folder too.

Challenges are a good when you need inspiration. Sketch challenges are especially great to give you a starting point and there are tons out there.

Right now I'm feeling blah about reading. I want to read but nothing is appealing to me. I read fast and often and my favorite authors can't write fast enough!

Thats how I have been feeling lately too..just not interested in anything. I'm starting to get over it now though.

Your card is awesome! I like the embossing you did and the colors you chose look so good together.

You worked it out, dog...you made it your own, dog - LOL Dang - you go way back when you are looking at blogs...that's crazy...totally didn't know where this card came from - ha. And mine didn't have Signature Greetings - did I know you bought that set? I think you were holdin' out on me, dog. So glad you're back with a CARD!!

This is so fun! When my mojo isn't working, I do just what you do and look at pics that I've favorited for inspiration. The other thing I do is have about 20 different challenge blogs in my reader - I tend to focus on those that offer prizes LOL. Free stamps or goods is often a great way to get me motivated! lol

This is beautiful! I love the color combo, and the layered butterflies are gorgeous! I too find challenges to inspire me. New stamps or paper always get me in the crafty mood too : )

I think you and I are on the same mood level. I've been blah too. But I think I am getting out of it. The fact that my new PTI order should be here in a few days definitely helps. I highly recommend placing an order. ;) lol!

This card is gorgeous. I love how you embossed the butterfly. It's a great layout and that ribbon makes it so elegant. You did a great job!!

You did a great job re-creating the original card. I like the color combo.

I've had many occasions when my mojo went away. In the beginning, I used to try to fight it and keep stamping. But I ended up hating everything I made. I have since learned that when I'm not having a good time to just walk away. I just shut the door to my craft room and don't go back in until I'm feeling creative again. Sometimes that's just for a day or two and sometimes it's for a week. A few years ago I took a 3 month break (yes 3 whole months) because I just wasn't feeling creative. Since I've been blogging though, it hasn't happened as much. Mostly because I find so much inspiration that I want to keep going - when I have time. I have been SO busy lately.
