Buzzing Bees

Well, I thought that with my good start on Monday, I'd be back in the card-making groove this week. But I've been battling a migraine, so that puts a huge damper on things. The kiddos are in bed and it's cooling off, and I decided I could handle finishing a scrapbook page in the quiet, cool, darkness of my kitchen. My brother that was visiting loves sports: watching, playing, being involved however. So one of the nights he was here we went to a Bees game. It was a lot of fun. My son was so excited to get pictures taken with the mascot, Bumble. The picture with #18 was taken earlier in the game, and then towards the end of the game he made an "error". All of the people who had had a bit too much to drink were yelling "wake up #18, you're gonna cost us the game!" So when I was looking through the pictures from that night, I thought it was funny there was a picture of #18, and had to put it on the page. I'll be back later in the week, hopefully with a card or two to share {fingers crossed}.

EDITED TO ADD: I showed my husband the page and asked what he thought. He said he thought it would look cool to leave just one of the pictures in color, and make the others sepia. So I did it for fun to see how it would look. Let me know what you think!

That was a long time!

Well, my brother caught his flight back to Korea yesterday. We had such a great time over the past 2 weeks. I'm always really sad when he leaves. We've lived apart for basically 16 years, so maybe I should be used to it. But I'm not. He's a great friend, and knowing how long it will be before I see him again leaves me just a little blue. So yesterday I took the day to be bummed and catch up on some much needed rest. Today I knew I needed to stamp or I might never get back in the swing of things. I used the CAS sketch challenge on Split Coast Stampers today. This fun card here is the sketch. I used some Basic Grey paper that I just love; if I was a person who could sew, I would find fabric to mimic this paper and make a cool blanket with it! Well, I am off to try and catch up on visiting blogs. Enjoy your Monday!

My little soldier

We are having a great time having my brother here. He's only here for one more week, and then he will be gone again, probably for longer than a year this time, so we've been busy trying to squeeze in a lot of fun. I am so glad my kids are getting older so that they will remember more about this fun time together. On to a quick page I made for my son. I took this picture of him last summer while we were playing at a friend's house.

I am going to keep making these digital pages, because I think this way I will actually catch up and get the gazillion pictures on our hard drive onto pages where they can be enjoyed.

Babies and Blueberries

Today is release day at Digiments, and I have another baby card for you. I guess it's really more of a card for a new mommy or soon-to-be mommy. I originally planned to make something else with the "just for you" digiment. The more I thought about it, the more I thought it would be fun to use for a mommy, to bring some attention back to her, and make her feel special. So here you have it:

To view the rest of the cards made using some of the newly released digiments, you can visit the Digiments blog, or look at the links on my left hand sidebar. I've had so much fun working with these talented ladies. I can always find some inspiration on their blogs if I am lacking creativity.

Now, for a little blueberry recipe. A blog-land friend said that it's blueberry season where she is. I love blueberries, although mine are usually from the frozen section at the grocery store. Quite some time ago I'd found this recipe for peach blueberry crisp on Recipezaar {I love that site for recipes, it's super fun!}. So I made a super fast digi recipe card to share. Here it is:

Have a wonderful Saturday. I am off to get ready for a PTA meeting, which sadly means that summer is winding down....that went fast!

I'm back!!!

Well, so much for an auto post for you while I was gone. But I am back! And guess what I have for you? A baby card. The Digiments release this month has some awesome sentiments for baby cards, making me a happy girl!
This card is for a lady from church who just had a little baby girl. The mom was one of the cutest dressing pregnant ladies, and I wanted to give her some cute clothes for her baby girl. I used one of the Digiments from the July release that will be available Saturday! There are 24 awesome digiments for $1 each, or you can get the whole release for $10.00!!! What a great deal. Also, next month, Michelle has a tutorial planned for easy use of the digiments. The digital aspect can be intimidating if you've never given it a try, but it's EASY to get used to these. Stay tuned for that as well!

Announcements, and Travel Time

Well, I've had a little something pop up that is taking me out of town for a few days. So I don't have a bunch of stuff ready in advance, but I do have a couple of auto-posts scheduled that I hope will work! And where I'm going has internet access, so even though I won't post each day, I will be able to check out all the fun going on in blog-land!

Now, for the announcement, it's almost Digiments release time, which means freebies this week, as well as the chance to win the entire new release! So go grab any or all of the freebies for this week, make as many cards or projects as you want with them, get linked back to Digiments, and you could win the entire new release. More projects give you more entries, and more chances to win, so don't hesitate to play along!

Kindness

I have made more recipe cards to fill up the finished recipe box, so I'll be back next week with even more recipe cards. I'll have some regular cards, too, and hopefully even more scrapbook pages. I can say that the more digital pages I make, the more fun I have with the digital aspect of things. Especially resizing photos. A lot of times I leave my pages a lot more plain, but I was having fun putting together different colors and elements, and I just left it as it was. Have a safe weekend wherever you are!

Recipe Card Box

Well, my Kraft cardstock arrived, so I could make my recipe box. I've had this paper from some scrapbook store for a long time. I thought that it was perfect for my recipe box project. I've found that if I size my recipe cards at 5 3/4 inches square, they fit great into this box. Eventually I think I'll make a different box for each category, like main dishes, dessert, breads, etc. But for now I'll use one box for all of them, and make some fun dividers. Then as each box fills up, I'll make a new one.

Fireworks

I am totally out of Kraft cardstock which I need for a project I have planned, so while I'm setting waiting patiently for the UPS man, I decided to do a quick digital scrapbook page. I am finding that I can do a digital page a lot quicker than a traditional. It takes me forever to cut and resize and decide where I want what. This way I'm just working with a screen, so I can do my resizing and shifting with the click of a mouse! And if I "cut" a picture and it's not how I want it, I don't have to scrap the whole project. I won't give up regular paper and glue, but this is a fun alternative.

Banana Bread

Here is one of my family's favorite treats. We always buy lots of bananas when we go grocery shopping. My kids will gobble them up, and I actually have to put some aside for making the bread (since ripe ones always taste better in banana bread) or my kids will eat them all. I'm one of those people at the grocery store that doesn't complain if the bananas are already turning brown, since I'll use them for this recipe. Have a safe holiday weekend wherever you are.
